Following these care instructions will help keep your palms and altar decorations fresh and beautiful for your Palm Sunday celebration. Because all of our products are fresh, natural plant materials, proper storage and handling are essential.
From the Farm to Your Church
What sets Landy Palms apart is the extra care that goes into every order before it even reaches your church. We source our palms directly from the farms where they are grown, eliminating unnecessary handling and ensuring the freshest product possible.
From harvest, our palms are transported in refrigerated trucks and stored in temperature-controlled refrigeration until they are carefully packed and shipped to you. By maintaining the proper temperature throughout the supply chain, we help preserve the freshness, quality, and beauty of every order so your palms arrive in excellent condition and are ready for your Palm Sunday celebration.
Altar Decorations
Fresh altar decorations should be treated much like fresh-cut flowers.
Stripped Palm Strips
To keep your Short and Long Palm Strips fresh:
Palm Bud Branches
To keep your Palm Bud Branches in the best condition:
Leave them wrapped in the burlap they arrive in.
Store them in a cool location until you are ready to display them.
Do not allow them to freeze.
Some people choose to lightly mist the burlap to help maintain moisture. While this can be beneficial, avoid getting the bundle too wet. Excess moisture deep inside the bundle with little air circulation can encourage mold to develop.
Palm Crosses
To keep your handmade palm crosses fresh:
Leave the crosses in the plastic bags they arrive in until you are ready to use them.
Store the bags in the refrigerator, but do not freeze them.
Once removed from the bag, the crosses will gradually begin to dry out. For the best appearance, wait until just before your Palm Sunday service to distribute or display them.
Proper Storage
For the best results:
Store fresh palms at 45°F–50°F (7°C–10°C).
Do not freeze any fresh palm products.
Remove the sealed plastic bags from the shipping box as soon as your order arrives. Leaving the bags inside a -closed box can allow heat to build up between the bags, reducing freshness.
Spread the bags out or remove several from each box to improve air circulation and help keep the palms cool.
If condensation forms inside a plastic bag, carefully open it, wipe away the excess moisture with a paper towel, and reseal the bag. This helps prevent excess moisture from affecting the freshness of the palms.
Pure Palm Ashes
Our Pure Palm Ashes are shelf-stable and require very little maintenance.
Store the ashes in a cool, dry place.
Keep the package sealed until you are ready to use it.
When stored properly, Pure Palm Ashes will keep for many years, allowing you to use them whenever they are needed.
Inspect Your Order
Please inspect your shipment as soon as it arrives.
Natural Characteristics
Because our palms are natural products, slight variations in size, shape, and color are normal.
You may notice brown tips or minor blemishes on some leaves. This is a natural characteristic of fresh palm foliage, as the drying process begins before the leaves fully mature. Minor imperfections do not affect the freshness, quality, or beauty of the palms.
Standing Orders
Churches with standing orders are required to confirm their order each year to ensure product availability and accurate delivery for the upcoming Palm Sunday season.
